Today, at the foot of the wind turbines at the Limodores wind farm in Rochefort-sur-la-Côte in Haute-Marne, Free officially signed a wind power supply agreement. For 15 years, four wind turbines from the park will supply Free with 19 GWh of electricity annually.

A First Wind PPA for Free

With an ambitious CSR strategy, the iliad Group, Free's parent company, committed in January 2021 as part of its Climate Plan to support the development of new low-carbon energy capacity in the countries where it operates: France, Italy, and Poland.

On May 13, the Group announced the signing of four new PPAs (Power Purchase Agreements) in its three geographies, bringing the total number of renewable energy projects in its portfolio to eight.

The Group signed a 15-year wind project that complements its solar installations and contributes to better production variability management. Four wind turbines from the Limodores park in Haute-Marne will provide 19 GWh of electricity to the Group each year starting January 1, 2026 – equivalent to the annual consumption of 3,520 households.

With the 3 other PPAs signed by the Group in France, the Limodores project brings the total volume of green electricity produced in the country for Free's needs to 96.8 GWh. The Group's energy consumption in France will thus be covered by PPAs at 16% by 2027.

"
I am very pleased with this official signing today. Our Group will purchase for 15 years the electricity produced by four of the wind turbines at this impressive Limodores park. I am convinced that with this type of project, we achieve a winning trifecta: securing our long-term energy supply, reducing our carbon emissions, and strengthening our territorial presence.

A Wind Farm Rooted in Its Territory

Located in Rochefort-sur-la-Côte, the Limodores wind farm was commissioned on May 1, 2024. This park integrates into the landscape of the Barrois plateau, between forests and agricultural clearings. This project is the result of strong local commitment, supported by local officials since 2010 and by seven regional companies during its construction.

The park has entered its 2nd year of environmental monitoring, including bat activity recorders, to balance energy production with biodiversity protection.

The Winning Trifecta

Energy Security

Long-term energy supply security with predictable pricing over 15 years, protecting against market volatility.

Carbon Reduction

Significant reduction in carbon footprint with 13,900 tonnes of CO₂ avoided over the contract duration.

Territorial Anchoring

Strengthening local presence and supporting regional economic development through renewable energy investments.
