Reshaping Industrial Decarbonisation

From the steel mills of the Grand Est to the refineries of Iberia and the ports of the North Sea, every kilogram of green hydrogen we produce displaces fossil molecules that have powered industry for a century. We don't just build electrolysers. We build the energy backbone of post-carbon European industry.

Decarbonising the Hard-to-Abate

From steel to chemicals to heavy mobility, hydrogen is the missing link for sectors electrons alone cannot reach. We design industrial-grade plants that displace grey H₂ at competitive cost.

Coupled with Renewables

Our electrolysers run on dedicated solar and wind, ensuring traceable green molecules with verified Guarantees of Origin and full lifecycle accountability.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about green hydrogen projects with VoltWatt.

What types of green hydrogen projects does VoltWatt develop?

We develop, finance, build and operate industrial-scale green hydrogen plants across Europe — from PEM and alkaline electrolysers (1–500 MW) to integrated hydrogen valleys combining production, storage, compression and distribution. Every plant is powered by dedicated solar, wind or hybrid renewables.

How long does a hydrogen project take to develop?

A typical industrial green hydrogen plant takes 3 to 5 years from feasibility study to commissioning, depending on size, permitting and renewable supply structure. Hydrogen valley masterplans generally span 5 to 8 years to reach full deployment.

What sectors benefit most from green hydrogen?

Hard-to-abate industrial sectors gain the most: steel (replacing coal in direct reduction), chemicals (green ammonia, methanol, fertilisers), refining, glass, and heavy mobility (trucks, buses, ferries, trains). Green H₂ also enables long-duration energy storage at multi-MWh scale.

How is the green origin of your hydrogen guaranteed?

Every kilogram we produce is backed by Guarantees of Origin compliant with the EU RED III Delegated Acts. Renewable electricity is contracted via direct PPA or co-located generation, with full traceability through digital certification.

Can VoltWatt fund a hydrogen project on our industrial site?

Yes. We offer fully financed Build-Own-Operate models where VoltWatt funds, builds and operates the electrolyser on your site, and you simply pay for the hydrogen delivered. We also co-develop with industrial partners and apply for EU Hydrogen Bank, IPCEI and national subsidies.

What is the typical cost of green hydrogen?

Industrial green hydrogen in Europe currently sits in the 4–7 €/kg range, depending on renewable resource, plant size and electricity contract structure. Our integrated approach — combining own renewables, scale and EU funding — targets a sub-3 €/kg LCOH by the end of the decade.
